WASHINGTON — In a telephone conference call on Thursday, Oct. 5, the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life will release the findings from a pathbreaking survey of pentecostal and charismatic Christians. These fast-growing religious movements represent about a quarter of all Christians in the world, and their increasing numbers make them a major force in the political as well as the religious landscape of the 21st century. The survey, funded in part by the Templeton Foundation, offers a unique look at the beliefs and attitudes of pentecostals and charismatics in the 10 countries surveyed.
On Friday, Oct. 6, the Forum will make the first public presentation of the findings at “Spirit in the World,” an international symposium on pentecostalism. Funded by the Templeton Foundation and hosted by the USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture, this event brings together the most prominent international scholars who track the social, political and economic impact of pentecostals around the world.
